Do your best to be successful!
Procedures:
Entering the Classroom:
Each day, you should come to math prepared and ready to learn. This includes having the appropriate materials (math book, binder, notebook, completed homework, calculator, pencil, colored pen, etc.). Once you enter the room, sit in your assigned seat and take out your homework.
Leaving the Classroom:
To leave the classroom for any reason (to go to the bathroom, get a drink of water...) you will need to sign out on the bathroom chart after asking me for permission and handing me one of your hall passes for the current trimester.
Getting out of your seat during class:
If you need to get out of your seat after class has started for an appropriate reason you will need to raise your hand to ask for permission.
Attention Signal:
When I make the attention signal I will raise my hand and count down from five. I will then wait for the entire class’s attention as they quietly raise their hands before making any necessary announcement.
Asking Questions:
If you would like to ask me a question, please raise your hand AFTER you have tried asking a classmate if you see that I am already helping another student. Please don't shout out and wait patiently.
Turning in Assignments:
You must do your own work and cheating will not be tolerated. See the St. Paul of the Cross Student Handbook “Student Assessment” section for what is and is not considered cheating. Assignments will be checked in or collected for completeness and/or accuracy at the beginning of class. Due dates will be announced in class and are expected to be followed. Late work will not be accepted. Students will fill out a St. Paul of the Cross missing assignment form and be required to obtain a parent signature and return it the next school day.
Absences:
If you are absent from class, a one-day extension will be given, but you are responsible for showing me your homework after your absence. It is YOUR responsibility to pick up the work you missed from the bin and ask me about the work you missed if you have any further questions.
Cell phones are not allowed in class and must be left in your locker. If a cell phone is being used in the classroom, a parent will be required to pick it up from the school office.
Consequences:
If you are not following a classroom rule/procedure or a school rule, the junior high scoreboard policy will be used and can lead to detentions being served. During the detention with me, the student will be required to write the classroom rules and procedures and about their classroom behaviors and how they are going to do to change their behavior.
I am here to help you learn and succeed and am looking forward to a great school year!
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions you have. I will check my e-mail daily and get back to you promptly.
**How to succeed in math: Your grade in math will correspond to the amount of effort you put forth, in and out of class. Math, like every other subject, takes practice. The more you practice your skills, the better you will do. Every day I expect you to listen, try your best, learn from your mistakes, ask questions, and most of all – ENJOY math!
